Robert Picirilli

On the Foreknowledge of God...

Robert Picirilli explains: God is omniscient, and the implications include: (1) that He knew all possible contingencies; and (2) that from all these He decided or willed what is.” (Grace, Faith, Free Will, Contrasting Views of Salvation: Calvinism and Arminianism, p.35)

On Election...

Picirilli explains: “Election is gracious and eternal, founded in Christ, and conditional and personal in application.” (Grace, Faith, Free Will, Contrasting Views of Salvation: Calvinism and Arminianism, p.59)

Picirilli adds: “He elected ‘in Christ.’ This is the thing Arminius wanted emphasized, the ‘Christocentricity’ of election. Christ Himself, first and foremost, was God’s darling, His chosen One. Individuals are chosen in saving union with Christ.” (Grace, Faith, Free Will, Contrasting Views of Salvation: Calvinism and Arminianism, p.66)
