2nd Corinthians 10:5

2nd Corinthians 10:5-6 (see also Philippians 4:8)
We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.

One Men’s Devotional states:God has given you are free will, including the ability to influence the direction and the tone of your thoughts. And, here’s how God wants you to direct those thoughts: ‘Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things’ (Philippians 4:8 Holman CSB). The quality of your attitude will help determine the quality of your life, so you must guard your thoughts accordingly. So, the next time you find yourself dwelling upon the negative aspects of your life, refocus your attention on things positive. And, the next time you’re tempted to waste valuable time gossiping or complaining, resist those temptations with all your might.”

Question:  According to Calvinism, God has decreed whatsoever comes to pass, including all of the thoughts of every being, human and angelic, without which, if God had not decreed said thoughts, He could not infallibly know what any being would think next. But if that is true, then why does God tell us to take control of our thoughts, if He determines what our thoughts will be? Take control of the things that are decreed?

Answer:  Calvinists can only invoke “the means” just so many times, until people have had enough.
