Genesis 22:18

Genesis 22:18 (see also Luke 2:10)
In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.

The “seed” indicates a son. Based upon Abraham’s faith, through his seed, from Isaac to Jesus Christ, all humanity would be blessed, which otherwise could not be true, with a Limited Atonement. Otherwise, how would the alleged, non-elect, be part of this blessing? Furthermore, what are “all the nations” but the sum of its parts, which is tantamount to the same thing as individuals?

Question: How does this affect the Calvinist doctrine of Unconditional Election, which teaches that only some of the families of the earth shall be blessed?

Answer: If Calvinism was true, would we need to revise this verse to say: “Because you have obeyed My voice, in your seed, a predetermined number of Calvinism’s elect of the earth shall be blessed.” That would better capture the limitation inferred by Calvinists.

We see the benefit of Genesis 22:18 fulfilled at Luke 2:10, which states: But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people.’”

Dave Hunt: “Paul preached the same ‘good tidings of great joy...to all people’ announced by the angel of the Lord (Luke 2:10). Yet those predestined to eternal torment find no ‘joy’ in knowing that Christ came to save others--but not them! Calvinism limits to an elect the joy the angel said was for all. ... The Calvinist claims that the angel didn’t mean ‘all people’ but ‘all kinds of people.’” (Debating Calvinism, p.365)
