Luke 2:23

Luke 2:23 (see also Exodus 13:2)
As it is written in the law of the LORD, every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord. [KJV]

Exodus 13:2: Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.”  [KJV]

Question: Are all firstborn males saved? Have any ever perished? Now according to Calvinism, if any firstborn male is saved, then it is according to the eternal design of God, and likewise for the unsaved. So if a firstborn male perishes, according to the eternal design of God, as an unholy Reprobate, then how were they ever “holy” to begin with?

Answer: The counter-argument to Calvinism is that no one is born as an eternal, unholy Reprobate, and especially not a firstborn male. These are holy to God, and it is not God, but the person, that makes themselves unholy. For God’s part, they are His, and it was never His intention that they be unholy.
