What is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the message of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, who died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and was buried, and was raised on the third day, and that by believing, there is life in His name. For whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. And here is the message: If a man will confess with his mouth, Jesus as Lord, and believe in his heart that God raised Him from the dead, he will be saved. For God is faithful and righteous to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, just as the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. So even though there is none righteous, and all fall short of the glory of God, in which the wages of sin is death, the free gift of God is eternal life. For God has made from one man, every nation of mankind, to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist. Having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through this Man, Jesus Christ, whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men, by raising Him from the dead. Everyone who confesses this Man, Jesus, before men, Jesus will also confess before His Father who is in Heaven. But whoever denies Him before men, He will also deny before His Father in Heaven. Moreover, if you forgive others for their transgressions, then your heavenly Father will also forgive you for your transgressions. But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions. Lastly, if anyone loves Jesus, he will keep His word, and His Father will love him, and the Father and Son will come to him and make their abode with him. It is for this reason that the Father loves you, because you have loved His Son, whom He has sent, and believed that He came from Him. If anyone loves God, he is known by Him, and if anyone does not love God, he is to be accursed. For this reason we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away from it. For if the word spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty, how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?

Question:  What is the Gospel?

Answer:  At 1st Corinthians 15:1-11, Paul explicitly states what the Gospel is, by saying, “Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved.” Then at Acts 17:22-31, Paul preaches a sample Gospel message. So there is no mystery as to what the Gospel is.
